Business leaders visit tool and die
company
Sir Alan Jones, Chairman of SEMTA, and Terry Slater, CEO, EEF Western and Director, EEF Cymru Wales visited expanding Welsh engineering company, FSG Tool and Die, on May 11th 2007.

During the tour of the factory each of the twelve current apprentices took the opportunity to explain his own specialist area and show examples of his expertise.
Jamie Griffiths, overall winner of the SME element of the EEF Apprentice of the Year competition and one of GTMA National Training Awards winners, was the guide for the tool assembly area.
Sir Alan commented "It is a real pleasure to visit a company so committed to apprenticeship and training programmes, and meet twelve young people who have such a grand opportunity to fulfil their potential".
Terry Slater added: "There aren't many companies in business today where you can find employees who, having started as apprentices, have progressed through the ranks to complete forty years of sterling service, as several have here".
Gareth Jenkins, Managing Director of FSG Tool and Die, commented; "It is vital for our industry that the achievements of young people are celebrated and that apprenticeships are seen as an effective route to success in the world of work.
Sir Alan's visit has definitely helped us reinforce this message and given the whole business a buzz".
FSG Tool and Die works closely with SEMTA, and has recently participated in the Life Long Learning linked to Productivity initiative, which helped extend the use of the latest technology within the company as well as carrying out a broad skills development programme within the workforce of 84 people.
