Fastener show got off to a good start

A Fastener Fair product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Oct 10, 2005

More than 2000 fastener professionals met at Fastener Fair, 2005, Stuttgart, Germany, confirming the industry need for a dedicated European fastener event; next is in 2007.

Organiser Jerry Ramsdale says: "Fastener Fair has successfully established itself in the heart of Europe and Stuttgart 2007 is definitely here." He says detailed research among the industry has already begun to establish the best dates for the next event, but it is likely to take place at about the same time as this year's show, in Autumn 2007.

The 2005 event included 198 exhibitors from 27 countries, representing all aspects of the fastener and fixing industry, including a manufacturing technology area.

Most exhibitors were from Germany, closely followed by Asia, the UK and Italy.

To meet the 456 exhibitor personnel, 1603 high quality visitors from 51 countries attended Fastener Fair Stuttgart.

Visitors came from every continent.

Most (94%) came from Europe, with less than half (42%) coming from Germany itself.

77% of the visitors were from European Union countries and 10.5% from eastern Europe, where so much manufacturing and assembly now takes place.

What all visitors had in common was their involvement at a senior level in the fastener and fixing sector.

They included CEOs, directors and purchasing professionals from major European players, including Bufab, Wurth Group, Kingfisher Trade Division and Fischer, among many others.

In fact, 85% of those who responded to the question on the registration form had purchasing responsibility.

75.5% were interested in fasteners, 50.2% in fixings and 24% in related tools.

As part of Fastener Fair Stuttgart's commitment to supporting innovation in fastening technology, the event held an Innovations Showcase featuring 17 products.

Visitors voted for the product they felt to be most innovative, with the overall winner being the Giehl-Systems rapid assembly nut.

Runners up were there Screw-Tite screw from Titefix and the RIV509 hydro-pneumatic riveting tool from Rivit.

The Manufacturing Technology Zone proved a hit with visitors and exhibitors alike.

International exhibitors, several of which have already confirmed their participation in the 2007 event, reported significantly higher-than-expected leads.

Overall, exhibitors were delighted with the quality and quantity of the visitors who attended.

The consensus among exhibitors is that Fastener Fair Stuttgart compared very favourably to larger shows, where it is often difficult to pick out the serious prospects.

At Fastener Fair Stuttgart, exhibitors knew that virtually every visitor to their stand was either a customer or a genuine potential.

As for visitors, the majority feeling of those interviewed was that the show had been a great success, that they would attend again in two years time and that they would encourage their colleagues to visit too.

Organiser Jerry Ramsdale is looking forward to the show in Autumn 2007.

"We already know we are going to need considerably more space to accommodate the bigger stands this year's exhibitors are planning, and to provide space for all the companies that are now convinced Fastener Fair is the event dedicated to the European fastener and fixing industry.?.
