Low cost, automatic bar loaders make their debut
Further expanding its equipment range for CNC machine tools, FSE has set up Nexbar Bar Automation that offers low cost, automatic bar loading systems.
Further expanding its range of equipment for CNC machine tools, Filtration Service Engineering (FSE) has set-up a new division to market low cost, automatic bar loading systems.
Nexbar Bar Automation, as the new operation is known, has introduced two short bar feed systems for CNC lathes - the Nexbar 5.65-1500 Eco and the Nexbar 6.8-1500 Servo models.
The former is designed for round bar from 5 to 65 mm diameter while the latter can handle stock from 6 to 80mm diameter.
Both systems can accommodate round, hexagonal and square material in lengths up to 1550mm.
Being officially launched at MACH 2004 on stand 5569, the Nexbar bar loaders are around 20% cheaper than comparable units, yet they offer high levels of performance and reliability.
Key features of these systems include: compact design (with a floor area of only 2010 by 1160mm), fast and simple changeover, ready integration with machine control, numeric keypad for input setting, retractable rails for easy spindle liner changing and, no bar preparation (aside from deburring).
The Nexbar Eco system uses pneumatic cylinder control for the bar feed while the Nexbar Servo bar feeder has an AC servo pusher drive and an LCD unit for parameter display.
Both loaders are supplied with side-mounted rack-type magazines for extended unattended operation on turret-type CNC lathes, including twin-spindle models.
The smaller capacity unit's magazine can store up to nine separate bars of 65mm diameter or 117 bars of 5mm diameter whereas the Servo system can handle seven individual bars of 80mm diameter or 97 bars of 6mm diameter.
Bar racks are only 585mm deep, so maintaining the compact nature of each loader.
There's also a choice of steel and master spindle liners on both systems while the optional Nexbar Plus support unit extends bar length capacity by up to 500mm.
To compliment the automatic units, the Nexbar Basic offers the facility to automatically feed single bars up to 65mm diameter and 1200mm long (depending on machine spindle length).
The unit does not need spindle liners or interfacing and can be installed by the user.
It's constant pusher pressure ensures maximum bar stability and improved surface finish.
These new automatic bar feed systems are the latest addition to FSE's package of highly practical and cost effective machine tool add-ons which also include: Spin Window, Chip conveyors, Blow Chip, Mist filters and the HPC Jet series of high pressure coolant systems.
The Nexbar operating division is headed up by Roger Doyle - a well known name in bar feeding circles.
