Oil fired boiler chosen for reliability
Owing to their easy to use and reliable features, backed by a strong after sales team, menthol cough sweet producer installed a new oil-fired steam boiler to supply the process lines.
Commenting on their new steam set-up, Stan Greensmith says: "Fulton were specified based on our experience of their boilers.
They are easy to use and reliable, backed by a strong after sales team with an in-depth knowledgeable of both products and steam systems as a whole." Following an increase in demand for their range of menthol cough sweets, Jakemans (Confectioners) Limited, a small family run business, has installed a new oil-fired 20E steam boiler from Fulton Boiler Works.
Founded in 1907, the company has developed and manufactured a range of quality confectionery and has in recent years, specialised in the manufacture of menthol cough sweets, the most famous being the Throat and Chest sweet.
In late 2001 Jakemans enlarged its operation by opening a new factory on the outskirts of Boston, from which they now supply a network of Wholesale, Cash and Carry and Multiple Store operations throughout the UK.
Due to the costs involved in setting up the new factory, Jakemans elected to purchase a second-hand Fulton steam boiler but, following several very successful months trading from their new factory, managing director Stan Greensmith made the decision to upgrade the steam operation.
A new oil-fired 20E boiler was purchased and the existing second-hand unit was re-installed to act as a back up.
The oil-fired 20E boiler is installed to run Jakemans' steam cookers during the production process.
The 'batch', an original recipe formulation containing a fifty-six kilogram mixture of sugar and glucose, is heated to 135degC prior to flavourings such as menthol and eucalyptus being added.
Commenting on their new steam set-up, Stan Greensmith says: "Fulton were specified based on our experience of their boilers.
They are easy to use and reliable, backed by a strong after sales team with an in-depth knowledgeable of both products and steam systems as a whole.".
