This is Nigel's worst nightmare! Commenting on the filming, Marven says: "Like Indiana Jones, I cannot stand rats.
I'll quite happily pet a spider or a worm, but rats are just beyond me.
In order to deal with this phobia, I decided to make a one-hour film about rats and, as my production company is based in Bristol, we thought it would be a great idea to use a local factory environment for the filming.
We approached Fulton and when we visited the site, it proved ideal and really set the scene for the programme." The 'Rats' documentary, which is one of a five-part series for Five, was first screened in 2003 in the UK and United States on the Discovery Channel.
Commenting for Fulton, sales and marketing director Gordon Bareham says: "We were delighted to help with the filming of the documentary and support a local business." He adds, tongue-in-cheek: "I would like to stress that we do run a very clean factory and the production company did have to supply its own rats, all of which were counted out after filming!" Because the first film was such a success, the Fulton factory has again been used for a new production exploring how animals and plants help to solve crime.
