Forklift computers capable of direct 12 vdc input

Glacier's GX rugged forklift computers now capable of direct 12 vdc vehicle input.

Glacier Computer, a leading developer of versatile and powerful industrial computer systems for harsh environments, announces that its GX-1000 and GX-1200 rugged computer is now capable of a direct connection to 12 VDC vehicles.

The GX 1200 has a 12.1" color display, rugged touchscreen, 1.1 GHz Pentium III processor, wireless options and multiple I/O.

The GX-1200 is housed in a rugged enclosure and is ideal for applications such as forklifts, fixed-mount warehousing, and distribution and factory floor settings.

The GX-1200 has a touchscreen, integrated 802.11 B/G wireless, optional Bluetooth, and numerous mounting options.

The GX 1000 is similar to the GX 1200, but offers a 10.4" display as well as a smaller form factor for greater line-of-site by the operator.

Additionally, the GX 1000 uses a low power, efficient 1 GHz Via processor, which greatly reduces heat and unit cost.

Dan Poisson, Vice President of Engineering at Glacier, commented, "we have always been extremely diligent about how input power is supplied to our forklift computers.

The challenges of noise, voltage spikes, low going transients, and heat, all require extensive testing.

We are quite confident that all of these issues have been addressed with our new internal DC/DC power supply.

Customers utilizing vehicles with 12 VDC electrical systems can now simply wire our GX 1000 and GX 1200 units without the need for an external converter." The elimination of the external 12 VDC converter benefits the customer in two ways.

The overall install is quicker and the cost of the converter itself is eliminated.

Glacier will continue to recommend the use of the internal UPS with each system as further protection for the computer.
