Gamet Bearings raises machine tool accuracy

A Gamet Bearings product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Oct 31, 2008

Gamet Bearings has released its Q and QK grade of bearings for machine tool precision.

Q and QK grade bearings, which are used typically by manufacturers of machines where precise component roundness is required, achieve a roundness of less than 0.5 micron, often as low as 0.3 micron.

To achieve such precision in its bearings, Gamet employs the latest manufacturing techniques combined with the highest standard of quality control and inspection throughout its plant.

Director and general manager of Gamet, Gerry Shrimpton, said: 'To consistently achieve high standards we maintain carefully controlled and monitored manufacturing processes combined with continual staff training and best management practices.' Gamet manufactures high-precision bearings at its purpose-built factory in Colchester, Essex.

Fully automated machine tool systems are combined with in-process inspection to ensure repeatable accuracy and minimal cycle times.

A temperature controlled inspection room uses the latest equipment, including a Mahr measuring machine for the automatic measurement of concentricity and the provision of essential feed-back information on the performance of the production machines.
