Escalating UK turret mill sales drive HQ move

A Gate Machinery International product story

With sales of PBM turret milling machines reaching record levels in 2005, and with sales expected to rise in 2006, it was necessary for Gate Machinery International to find new larger premises.

With sales of PBM Turret Mills reaching record levels in 2005, and with sales expected to continue to rise in 2006, it was necessary for Gate Machinery International to find new larger premises for its head office and UK machine tool operations.

The new premises on the Imperial Way industrial site in Watford provides 5,500ft2 of machinery storage, workshop and showroom space as well as modern well equipped offices.

With over 150 machines available from stock, and over 30 machines on display, under power, in the carpeted show-room, our customers have a larger choice of machines from stock than ever before.

"We have never had so many different machines in stock ready for immediate sale," said Alain Fidelia, managing director of Gate Machinery International.

"This has resulted in increased sales, the majority of which can be directly attributed to the increased choice available to our customers, as we hold more machines in stock now than we did before we moved to our new premises in December 2005." Fidelia added: "Due to the fact that we have been able to deliver most requirements from stock following our relocation, our customer satisfaction levels have increased significantly.

Customers who, prior to the move, would have had to wait several weeks for machines have been pleasantly surprised to have machines immediately available from our stock.

Of course, customers do under-stand that we cannot possibly keep every model in stock, and that special orders carry longer lead times.

Most of the time they are only too happy to wait." He continued: "Increases in multiple machine packages, being secured by us, both from UK and overseas educational establishments, together with single machine and smaller quantity orders from our more traditional industrial sectors - also on the increase - contributed to an increase in the volume of machines being supplied, which put pressure on our storage facilities creating the need for us to find larger premises." The additional space has enabled Gate Machinery International to expand its product range with the addition of a new entry level Turret Mill; a Pull-Down Band-saw and a Semi-Auto Horizontal Band-saw, a new version of the popular VMC-610 with extra traverse in the X axis and a new series of production CNC Lathes.

The new premises will also house Gate's new division - GTS (Gate Tooling Services) which will supply a range of high quality accessories and tooling.
