Metal parts demagnetised through tunnel

A Goudsmit Magnetics Groep product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Mar 14, 2003

A large-format demagnetising tunnel, including roller conveyer, demagnetises steel products such as, for example, moulds, saw blades, machine parts and packaged components.

Goudsmit Magnetic Systems in Waalre has recently expanded its range of demagnetising systems with a large-format demagnetising tunnel including roller conveyer.

This can be used to demagnetise steel products such as, for example, moulds, saw blades, machine parts and packaged components.

The use of a demagnetising tunnel means that small steel particles do not adhere to the mould and damage the mould surface and the product during the press stroke.

It is even possible that the product may stick in the mould and a second product is pressed on top of it.

This results in damage to the mould, production stops and loss of time and money.

Machine parts may also become magnetised by sawing, grinding or turning.

Once products have become magnetised, it is difficult to sort, handle, electroplate or weld them.

If bearings or bearing parts (e.g balls) become magnetised, the wear increases enormously due to the steel dust that they attract and hold.

Demagnetising these products extends their life considerably.

The recently developed demagnetising tunnel has a large aperture and a high capacity.

It is now possible to demagnetise large machine parts and moulds together in one go without having to disassemble them.

Packaged components can now also be demagnetised at the same time in one box.

Because of the special design and choice of material, these tunnels have a very low energy use.

The choice of a demagnetising tunnel depends on the application.

According to requirement, there are demagnetising tunnels with and without transport system, available in standard versions or made to customer specification.
