CNC provides easier 5-axis programming
Significant new developments are incorporated into the latest CNC systems in response to machine tool builder' demands for easier handling of 5-Axis machining.
GE Fanuc announce significant new developments now incorporated into the Series 16i/18i /18i -MB5 MODEL B CNC systems in response to machine tool builder' demands for easier handling of 5-Axis machining The new i Series MODEL B controls, say GE Fanuc, make not only for easier programming, but support a wide variety of machine tool configurations, which helps to increase productivity

GE Fanuc CNC to focus on communications technology
With Ethernet and TCP/IP becoming the front- running combination for globally-accepted computer networking, GE Fanuc believe that the time is right to focus on web-friendly products.
Such configurations can include, for example, table tilt, tool tilt and even combination configurations where both tool and table are tilted.
The new controls provide programming support for working in a tilted plane.
They provide tool centre point control also, enabling motion along a path in 5-axis mode, considering the path of the tool centre.
Similarly, a tool radius compensation function for 5-axis machining allows easy 3-dimensional tool radius offsets for a neutral cutting path, accommodating the use of tools with different diameters.
This reduces the need for re-processing the path with a CAM system.
Moreover, manual operation is made easier with the ability to move a tool along a tilted plane when commanding one axis.
The same holds true for moves in the direction of the tool axis.
Manual operation supports Tool Centre Point control also, enabling rotational feed around the centre of the tool tip. Request a free brochure from Fanuc GE CNC UK ...
