Enhancements for high-end CNCs up
productivity
A new Path Table Operation feature on high-end CNCs simplifies the programming of interlinked axes to increase productivity and enhance machine and operator safety.
GE Fanuc has added new features to its high-end Series 30i-Model A and Series 31i-Model A CNCs to increase productivity, and to further enhance machine and operator safety A new Path Table Operation feature on the GE Fanuc Series 30i-Model A and Series 31i-Model A simplifies the programming of interlinked axes

New-generation high precision CNC controls up to 40 axes, 24 simultaneously - claimed to be the world's highest number of axes managed by a single CNC controller.
3D CNC collision check function improved
Fanuc GE has developed a 3D interference check function, which helps prevent machine collisions for the Series 30i/31i model A CNC controllers and a data exchange is possible with CAD systems.
All related axial positions are entered as two-dimensional arrays.
The CNC interprets these path tables to control all the rotational and linear axial movements accordingly.
A new 3D Interference Check feature on the GE Fanuc Series 30i-Model A and Series 31i-Model A /A5 helps to prevent machine collisions.
It enables the definition of all objects in machining that may cause a collision.
The rotary tool, the work piece and the table and clamp, for example, are all defined within a right-angled volume.
The controller will then use this 3-D information to avoid collisions.
This feature on the Open CNC Series 300i Model A and the Series 310i-Model A /A5 can be customised by a Machine Tool Builder (MTB).
This 3D inteference machine safety feature complements Dual Check Safety, which is designed to protect the safety of the machine-tool operator.
The MTB has to comply with standards such as safety category 3 (EN 954-1).
In GE Fanuc systems, Dual Check Safety is an integrated function on Series 30i/31i/32i CNCs that uses sensors to monitor access to the machine as well as all servo and spindle movements.
The top-of-the-range GE Fanuc Series 30i-Model A controls up to 10 paths, 32 axes and 8 spindles, while the 31i-Model A controls up to four paths, 20 axes and six spindles.
With a compatible upgrade path from earlier models, they also offer an increased number of simultaneously executed CNC programs, enhanced surface finishing capabilities, as well as increased speed and enhanced ease-of-use.
