Machine tool motors have higher speed
Higher speed torque motors and a more compact absolute sensor enable new machine tool applications, such as turning in machining centres as well as gear and tool grinding.
GE Fanuc Automation has introduced high-speed models to its synchronous torque motor DiS Series with the same dimensions as the lower speed versions, expanding their applications to include other machine tools At the same time, the introduction of a new, smaller and easier-to-maintain absolute sensor for the complete DiS Series offers compact, cost-effective and high-accuracy rotary axis solutions

CNC controllers offer 5-axis machining functions
CNC controllers precisely interpolate axis movements for 5-axis machining and have software that is claimed will guarantee the best machining results even for free formed surfaces.
The new Di85/1000, DiS110/1000 and DiS260/1000 synchronous torque motors offer a maximum speed of 1000revs/min, while achieving the same 85/110/260Nm maximum torques as the standard models in the DiS Series.
With similar low torque ripples and maximum load-free angular accelerations of 100,000deg/s2, these new high-speed models now offer turning applications in machining centres as well as extending their applications to gear and tool grinding machines.
A thermistor, in addition to the existing thermostat, provides temperature feedback of the stator.
The rest of the Dis Series includes eleven 200V and eleven 400V models, offering maximum torques between 85Nm and 3000Nm at speeds between 75 rev/min and 400revs/min: these are ideal for indexing of rotary tables and additional axes on 5-axis machines.
The size of the sensor unit of the compatible, new GE Fanuc Absolute Alpha iCZ Sensor has been reduced by 50% in the axial direction, compared to previous versions: the detector has been reduced by 70% in volume.
Both size reductions enable more compact installations.
Improvements to the sensor gear and detector circuits have enhanced its accuracy to +/-2s (for the 1024 model).
The Alpha iCZ connects directly to a GE Fanuc Servo Amplifier via the FANUC serial interface.
