Geomagic announced at Euromold 2005 an industry-wide program that unites software, measurement system manufacturers, technology OEMs, and resellers to help customers implement digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP) for greater efficiency and cost savings The new Geomagic Alliance Program (GAP) responds to the burgeoning growth of DSSP in mainstream design, engineering, inspection and manufacturing environments

The program combines resources from major market suppliers to offer complete solutions that meet customers' specific needs.

"The Geomagic Alliance Program brings recognition, leadership and cooperation to a technology category that is set to explode just as CAD did more than two decades ago," says Michael Raphael, president and chief engineer of Direct Dimensions, a leading supplier of DSSP services.

"It will make it easier to specify DSSP solutions in RFPs, improve the implementation process, and help ensure immediate and long-lasting returns on investments." GAP builds on Geomagic's philosophy of establishing partnerships with other technology providers to increase awareness of benefits and provide the best "out-of-the-box" experience for customers.

The program provides partners with Geomagic's award-winning technologies that can be optimized for specific measurement systems, applications and customers.

Partners also receive extended technical support and access to cooperative marketing programs sponsored by Geomagic.

"GAP provides a framework within which solution providers can cooperate to better educate and serve customers," says Andrew Stein, Geomagic's vice president of marketing, product and business development.

"Through sharing resources and knowledge, GAP partners can deliver better integrated solutions, simplified workflows, and greater customer satisfaction." Initial GAP measurement systems members include CogniTens, FARO Technologies, Konica-Minolta, Kreon, and Laser Design Technology OEM members include KaVo, a provider of systems for manufacturing custom dental devices, and GN Resound, a worldwide supplier of individualized hearing instruments.

"DSSP is poised to leap into the next level of mainstream adoption across many industries," says C.

Martin Schuster, president and CEO of Laser Design "GAP will give the industry valuable resources for migrating DSSP into new user organizations and spreading applications within existing customer installations.".
