Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Apr 10, 2006

In response to demand for scanning software by Japanese design, engineering, inspection and manufacturing organisations, a Geomagic Japan office has been set up in Tokyo.

Geomagic, a worldwide software and services firm headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, has opened its first branch office in Tokyo.

The Geomagic Japan office was established in response to the increasing demand for Geomagic solutions in Japanese design, engineering, inspection and manufacturing organizations, including automotive, industrial and consumer manufacturers.

It will provide enhanced service and support to Japanese automotive and electronics customers such as Toyota, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Nissan, Mazda and Toshiba.

Geomagic resellers and measurement systems partners in Japan will now receive collaborative customer-focused sales support and local technical support.

Geomagic software enables engineers and designers to transform scan data from physical objects into highly accurate digital models for applications ranging from digital shape reconstruction for mass customisation, reverse engineering and computer aided inspection.

"Our Japanese customers recognise the positive impact the Geomagic solution brings to their design and inspection needs," said Jim Johnson, vice president of sales for Geomagic.

"Establishing this office demonstrates our commitment to Japanese industrial markets and manufacturing customers and supports our objective to increase customer's competitive advantage with Geomagic products." The Tokyo branch joins other Geomagic offices in China, Singapore, Germany and Hungary.
