UK car plant works 10 million hours, no
accident
General Motors' UK automotive plant at Ellesmere Port has been oficially recognised as the safest factory in the Group, having worked 10 million hours without a workday lost through accident.
GM Manufacturing Ellesmere Port is now officially the safest plant in the General Motors Europe group and one of the safest manufacturing facilities in England after achieving 10 million working hours without a serious incident resulting in a lost workday GME's health and safety manager Dieter Stockinger and high ranking officials from the Health and Safety Executive presented plant director Tom Schmidt with commendations celebrating this outstanding achievement

Ellesmere Port is the first plant in GME to achieve this.
The presentation was conducted in front of all those who have been influential in this milestone achievement, including trade union officials, senior management and health and safety engineers.
To celebrate their involvement in this achievement every member of staff at Ellesmere Port received a commemorative Maglite torch.
The HSE praised Ellesmere Port for setting the benchmark for manufacturers in all industries.
Bob Holmes, UK and Ireland health and safety manager added, "This award highlights to the manufacturing community how far Ellesmere Port has come.
Our attention to making this production facility as safe as possible is unwavering and we have every intention to continue.
It's in everyone's mindset that good safety is no accident.".
