Also incorporated within Taurus is a switchable air-suction control that enables the rivet to be retained in the jaws of the tool when used vertically.
Central to the operation of Taurus is the new jaw mechanism which overcomes a multitude of problems associated with traditional sliding jaw and spring designs.
The jaws are retained totally within the jaw housing and are guided independently through special channels to maintain precise control over their action.
And, as jaw actuation is pneumatic and friction-free, they are able to exert a high gripping force of 60kp and 6 bar pressure directly on the mandrel of the rivet.
With these features the jaws have a very high wear resistance and a single jaw covers all rivet types and sizes up to the capacity of the tool.
Interchangeable nose pieces are always at hand as they are captivated in a base compartment of the tool.
In addition to being very competitively priced due to extensive value engineering, Taurus requires some 30 per cent less air to complete the blind riveting cycle compared to competitor tools.
Automatic two-way broken rivet mandrel evacuation utilises the same compressed air from the tool's setting process with spent mandrels collected in a container which slots into the rear of the tool.
In addition, an extraction tube can be attached to eject spent mandrels to a remote collector.
The entry level Taurus 1 has a 4mm rivet capacity with a stroke of 15mm.
It weighs just 1.6kg and requires only one litre of air for each riveting cycle.
The mid-range Taurus 2 accommodates steel rivets up to 5mm and aluminium rivets up to 6mm while the larger Taurus 3 has a rivet capacity of 8.0mm and still weighs just 1.9kg.
