Modular Redundancy system's more safety
approvals

GE Fanuc Automation's new Genius Modular Redundancy Phase IV system combines the power of GE Fanuc Series 90-70 PLCs and Genius I/O with TUV approvals for safety applications

GE Fanuc Automation's new Genius Modular Redundancy (GMR) Phase IV system combines the power of GE Fanuc Series 90-70 PLCs and Genius I/O with TUV approvals for safety applications, including Emergency Shutdown and now Fire and Gas With more user-friendly configuration software and a duplex rack for a smaller footprint, the result is a cost-effective, versatile critical control system that allows the user to apply as much or as little redundancy as necessary to meet application requirements

GMR Phase IV is the first version of the GE Fanuc GMR system to include TUV Fire and Gas approval, up to IEC SIL 3, as well as a DIN Class 6 rating.

Certification by T?V ensures that the system is suitable for applications requiring maximum reliability, fault tolerance, and safety by verifying proper system operation to international codes and standards.

With GE Fanuc's GMR Phase IV system, simplex, fail-safe, and/or fault tolerant I/O configuration can be remotely linked to redundant processors, providing system coverage that meets the requirements for safety and human life protection systems.

The advanced GMR executive continually executes diagnostics to detect overt and covert failures, reducing mean time to repair (MTTR) and generating automatic fault reports for maintenance or operations personnel.

Other automatic diagnostic features include memory error checking and data and address line testing.

The GMR Phase IV system's user-friendly configuration software provides a true Windows-based environment.

The system supports the configuration of GE Fanuc VersaMax PLC analog inputs to reduce costs.

A new GE Fanuc CIMPLICITY industrial automation software DevComm (device communications driver) is also available to facilitate communication with a redundant PLC system (up to 3 CPUs), making reading and writing data to and from redundant PLCs transparent to the user.

With an enhanced Ethernet interface for online programming, GMR Phase IV supports dual redundant Ethernet LANs (cables and interfaces) between CIMPLICITY and the PLCs.

In addition, Genius I/O, with its distributed design, allows the I/O to monitor the actions of other intelligent devices on the system and provide automatic diagnostic checks on the field loops.

Genius I/O accommodates both local and remote installation requirements.

Because it can be installed as a distributed I/O system, Genius I/O does not require long individual I/O wiring runs and can reduce installation costs up to 50 percent. Request a free brochure from GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms UK ...
