CPU controller increases speed,
performance
CPU controller has an Intel 1 GHz processor to provide unprecedented speed and performance for applications where the processing power of the current controller has reached its limit.
GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms has released its PACSystems RX3i CPU320, which has an Intel 1GHz processor to provide high levels of speed and performance GE Fanuc said that the CPU320 is ideal for applications where the processing power of the current controller has been 'pushed to the limit'

In addition to the increased performance, the CPU320 has 64Mbyte of user memory available.
Controllers product manager for GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, said Bill Black, said: "The CPU320 is ideal for a wide range of high speed applications where memory and performance are needed.
Typical applications where the new CPU should be positioned is material handling, packaging, assembly and process control".
Key features of the RX3i CPU320 include the following.
* Two built-in communication ports.
* Configurable data.
* Program memory.
The CPU320 can be programmed in Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, and C.
The CPU supports Symbolic Variables addressing and over 32K of discrete and analog I/O.
The powerful processor supports up to 512 program blocks with a maximum size for a block is 128KB.
"Customers looking for high speed processing, built-in communications, large data storage and high throughput will find this product will meet their critical requirements," said Black.
"We were able to reduce many customers' logic execution times by more than 70%".
