Three phase coil shrink unit compliments holders

A Gewefa UK product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Apr 5, 2002

A range of taper and face contact toolholders, including heat shrink clamping tool holders and clamping and cooling units, and a three phase coil shrink unit, will be shown at MACH 2002.

Gewefa UK, the UK's foremost independent supplier of toolholding, measuring and gauging systems is launching its new Gewefa Plus taper and face contact toolholder programme at MACH 2002.

In addition, complementing its range of heat shrink clamping tool holders and clamping and cooling units, the new Gewefa InduTerm G5 air cooled, three phase coil shrink unit will be on show for the first time.

The Gewefa Plus toolholding system covers the complete range and has been introduced as a response to the trend for Japanese machine tools to be shipped to Europe fitted with taper and face contact spindles.

Taper and face contact toolholders are particular suited to high speed machining applications.

"This is a growing trend and thanks to our bespoke manufacturing facility in Germany, we are able to respond by offering operators of machine tools fitted with this system a high quality, cost effective alternative to the O/E equipment," explains Gewefa UK managing director Graham Horwood.

End user benefits when using taper face contact toolholders include improved rigidity due to the larger contact face diameter, improved repeatability, the elimination of axial movement at high speeds, extended cutting tool life, improved surface finish and high precision machining.

In addition to offering an extensive range of toolholders in this new programme Gewefa UK is also able to offer machine spindles in the Gewefa Plus format.

On show for the first time at MACH 2002 will be Gewefa's new InduTerm G5, air cooled, three phase coil shrink clamping unit.

Very competitively priced, the G5's system for air cooling the coil eliminates the need for a water storage tank, making the unit highly compact.

The air chiller requires an air input via the standard factory air supply.

However, the G5 is still capable of very high speed operation, offering 'shrink to cooling' times of six seconds and the three phase power to the heating coil permitting both high speed steel and solid carbide tools to be clamped.

At MACH 2002 Gewefa will be featuring equipment from Pibomulti - the leading Swiss manufacturer of angle heads, speeders, multi-heads and machine turrets and from EWS who offer a comprehensive range of static and driven tooling covering virtually every leading N.C.

lathe.

Nann, who offer the biggest stock of standard collets in Europe, will be introducing their new 'Hainbuch' collets and Zoller will be showing three machines, including their new Phoenix presetter and measuring machine.
