A significant factor in Matsuura's decision to work with Gewefa on toolholding projects was the recent introduction of Gewefa Plus toolholders for face and taper spindle systems.
Since 1997 all spindles on Matsuura machine tools sold in the UK have had the capability of accommodating face and taper toolholders which offer significant improvements in toolholding rigidity and performance, particularly in high speed manufacturing environments.
"At Matsuura we pride ourselves in our extensive engineering expertise and we can take a client drawing or prototype and supply a custom designed manufacturing package that includes the machine tool, the bespoke tooling package and even the CAM programme," explains spindle facility manager David Spencer.
"Clearly the tooling supplier plays an important part in this chain and we feel the range of toolholding options and more specialist products available from Gewefa gives us access to a very extensive resource.
Having our own Class 1000 Spindle Build and Refurbishment Department at our 4,000m2 Leicestershire facility we have the capacity to carry out extensive testing of spindle tooling and toolholders from across the tooling sector and we know that our association with Gewefa is one based on both parties striving for product excellence".
In addition, Matsuura will be able to access Gewefa's technical and application expertise which is highly regarded in the production engineering industry.
Gewefa UK offers one of the largest ranges of precision toolholders to suit all machining centres and conventional machines.
In addition, in the UK Gewefa represents the interests of EWS, Pibomulti, Nann and PCM Willens.
