Synchronised tapping chuck extends cutter life
Synchronised tapping chuck has a cushioned soft start feature compensates for the dwell period when the tap 'bottoms out' prior to reversing and so extends threading cutter life.
"Shrink clamping is an increasingly popular technique for securely clamping the tool into the holder and across our range we now have machine options to suit almost every application," explains Gewefa UK Managing Director Graham Horwood.
"The new G5 Mk.
II version features a separate cooling system comprising a unique range of cooling sleeves that can be placed over the toolholder once the cutter is secured, cooling the assembly in around 30 seconds." Each machine comes equipped with 5 sleeves, covering the complete diameter range from 3mm to 32mm.
The unit also features a turn table which allows the operator to be working on a toolholder (either clamping or unclamping) while a fixed cutter is cooling.
The clamping unit, which is three phase for speed of shrinking 'in and out', can accommodate both carbide and HSS cutters.
It complements the popular high speed 'InduTerm' G5 induction shrink clamping unit which offers a shrink time of just 2-7 seconds with the cooling cycle of 25 seconds.
Gewefa's heat shrink clamping technique offers a combination of grip, precision and rigidity and a separate cooling facility.
It comes into its own in applications such as high speed milling and Gewefa offers heat shrink toolholders with a wide range of shanks and to suit just about any machining application.
