Chucks clamp turn and bore tools hydraulically

A Gewefa UK product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jan 24, 2006

Among the major new tooling products introduced at MACH 2006 was a revolutionary VDI hydraulic clamping chucking system for turning and boring.

At MACH 2006, Gewefa UK highlighted new and innovative equipment from its extensive tool-holding portfolio in addition to products from the leading organisations it exclusively represents in the UK.

Among the major new products introduced at MACH by Gewefa will be a revolutionary VDI hydraulic clamping chucking system for turning and boring.

Key advantages of the highly stable chucking concept are the anti-vibration features that provide quieter cutting and improved finish, a 100% longer insert life (producing 50% savings on insert purchasing) and shorter machining times via increased feeds and speeds.

The single clamping screw connection also produces faster tool changing.

EWS, who Gewefa has represented in the UK for a number of years, will be highlighting an innovative new gear cutting driven head that permits gear hobbing to be performed on a driven tool lathe.

EWS has developed a driven head fixture that allows the cutter head to rotate steplessly around the shaft, eliminating the need for a costly B-axis on the machine tool and allowing the entire gear cutting process to be completed without re-chucking.

In addition, the EWS-Varia modular quick change driven head system for NC lathes - introduced as a concept in 2004 - is now fully developed and was featured at MACH 2006.

Since the last MACH exhibition, Gewefa UK has been appointed the UK and Ireland distributor for Parlec tool pre-setting, measuring and inspection systems.

Now featured by Gewefa for the first time at MACH, Parlec pre-setting systems are among the most advanced and precise pre-setters available, featuring state-of-the-art tool measuring inspection and data measurement solutions.

Effective use of pre-setters increases efficiency, reduces machine tool down time and ensures tool-setting precision throughout an operation.

Simon Naan, Europe's largest supplier of standard and special collets will be highlighting products for SK clamping heads and power chucks.

Finally, a selection of Pibomulti angle heads, speeders and multi-spindle heads will be on exhibit as part of a focus on products that can increase the capabilities of existing machine tools.
