A large range of heat shrink clamping tool holders offers tools in every shank connection including specials if required and can produce tool and cutter combinations as long as 220mm.

Gewefa UK will be placing a major focus on its extensive range of heat shrink clamping tool holders at the forthcoming UK MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition Included will be the latest shrink clamp units from the German Rineck company

Gewefa offers one of the largest ranges of heat shrink clamping tool holders in the UK, having tools in every shank connection including specials if required.

The technique is extensively used in milling applications such as deep pocketing or where very high gripping forces are required.

It offers sustained accuracy, is ideal for very precise balancing with its one-piece design and is highly cost effective in use.

The cycle time for shrinking or un-shrinking the cutter into the toolholder is less than a minute.

* Deep or awkward access - for machining in deep or awkward access areas the combination of the exceptional tool grip and thin nose design tools can produce tool and cutter combinations as long as 220mm which still retain their precision throughout lengthy machining cycles.

The new Rineck 'Induktherm' shrink units will be on show for the first time in the UK at MACH.

They are available in three models, two of which, the free standing automated elevator unit (10kW) with a cooling tank and the table top 'Easy' (10kW), will be at MACH.

In addition to the Gewefa tool holding products there will also be prominent displays from Gewefa's partners - EWS, Pibomulti, Nann, Parlec and OTT-Jakob.

The most recent addition to the Gewefa portfolio, OTT-Jakob is a long established supplier of power drawbars for steep taper tools, HSK clamping units, unclamping units, rotary unions and pull force gauges for power spindles.

* Slotting on CNC lathes - innovative tooling products include the EWS-Slotting unit that permits slotting operations to be undertaken on CNC lathes as part of the machining cycle.

The 'EWS-Slotting Unit' operates in much the same way as a powered milling or drilling operation, with the drive shaft coupling of the unit fitting into the powered tool station on the machine turret to provide the drive.

Gearing within the unit converts the rotary drive motion into a Z axis forward motion which also has an integrated lifting function on the return stroke.

Cutting speed is dictated by the turret motor's drive and the unit offers a broaching stroke (length) of 30mm and a width of 10mm.

EWS has paid particular attention to the manufacture and build quality within the slotting unit to ensure it remains highly durable yet consumes minimal power and reduces lathe component wear in what can be an arduous process.

* Gewefa UK at MACH 2008, NEC, Birmingham, UK, Hall 5, Stand 5586.
