Highly sensitive smoke detection system released
Groveley Detection is launching flameproof smoke detector.
Hazard detection specialist Groveley Detection is launching a high-sensitivity EEx d smoke detection system.
The GD-HSSA allows very early smoke detection to be carried out in zoned hazardous areas.
Detection of low levels of smoke is possible because the GD-HSSA operates at the optimum sensitivity for the environment it is monitoring, without the need for complicated set up.
This mean the detector will configure itself to provide and maintain high sensitivity in a clean room or reduced sensitivity in a more dirty industrial location.
This benefit eliminates false alarms while still enhancing the detector's ability to identify real fires in a variety of site conditions.
The HSSA operates with sampling tube runs of up to 50m, with at least 10 sample point holes.
Groveley Detections' Robert Bennet said: "The GD-HSSA has an adjustable detection range between 0.0015 per cent to 25 per cent obs/m - so smoke detection can now be carried out in zoned hazardous areas varying from computer room cleanliness through to offshore oil and gas production platforms.
"The GD-HSSA is a significant advance in technology and weighs only 8.5kg, whereas previous generation devices have weighed between 40 and 70kg - so it makes installation and maintenance a lot easier".
The system is particularly suited to environments suffering from high air flow, cold and heat extremes, dust, wherever detection needs to be unseen, where access for maintenance is impractical and where building height could cause smoke stratification.
The GD-HSSA control electronics contains an APIC card for easy interface with most fire detection control panels.
It is certified EEx d IIB+H2 T3 to ATEX standards, certificate no.
