Versatile suspension speeds lighting
installation

More than 16,000 Gripple Hangers have been used in the installation by Newark-based contractors Derry Building Services to suspend high bay lighting, fluorescent tubes, trunking, trays and busbars in the three hangers which will be used for engine repairs.
Gripple No2 is being used for the majority of the work with the drop ranging from 1m to 10m in length for the Sun 400 light fixtures and tubes which weigh up to 20 lb.
Derry contracts engineer Alan Slack said: "The Rolls Royce project was a fast-track design and build project".
"The buildings were constructed using a modern steel framework design allowing us to fit the lights securely onto pre-formed steel purlins and RSJs".
"The strength of the Gripple high tensile steel wire rope and the useful self locking grip means the hanging system is extremely versatile and discrete".
"We have been able to position the hangers easily to suspend the lighting".
"This flexibility combined with the speed of the system allows a really quick installation time and thus reduces costs".
"The finished job also looks very neat." Alan Mulgrove, Gripple's area sales manager for the East Midlands, said: "Our systems have been designed to be used in a variety of settings and to minimise installation time".
"This project at Rolls Royce reinforces the range of applications that the Gripple Hangers can be used for on an electrical project from the suspension of lighting to hanging trunking and cable trays." The East Midlands' redevelopment project forms part of a GBP 100m investment plan to upgrade four of Rolls Royce's aircraft engine factories in the UK.
The world famous Gripple Hangers have been used to suspend static loads such as mechanical, electrical and HVAC services across the globe including major projects in industrial buildings, distribution centres, warehouses, offices, schools and hospitals.
