Extremely versatile and discrete suspension system allows a really quick installation of high bay lighting, fluorescent tubes, trunking, trays and busbars, and reduces costs.

Innovative Sheffield, UK-based company Gripple is helping to light the way in three multi-million pound redevelopment projects for Rolls Royce in the East Midlands The Sheffield-made suspension system is being used to secure light fittings throughout three 1,000ft factories owned by the prestigious aerospace manufacturer in Nottingham and Derby

More than 16,000 Gripple Hangers have been used in the installation by Newark-based contractors Derry Building Services to suspend high bay lighting, fluorescent tubes, trunking, trays and busbars in the three hangers which will be used for engine repairs.

Gripple No2 is being used for the majority of the work with the drop ranging from 1m to 10m in length for the Sun 400 light fixtures and tubes which weigh up to 20 lb.

Derry contracts engineer Alan Slack said: "The Rolls Royce project was a fast-track design and build project".

"The buildings were constructed using a modern steel framework design allowing us to fit the lights securely onto pre-formed steel purlins and RSJs".

"The strength of the Gripple high tensile steel wire rope and the useful self locking grip means the hanging system is extremely versatile and discrete".

"We have been able to position the hangers easily to suspend the lighting".

"This flexibility combined with the speed of the system allows a really quick installation time and thus reduces costs".

"The finished job also looks very neat." Alan Mulgrove, Gripple's area sales manager for the East Midlands, said: "Our systems have been designed to be used in a variety of settings and to minimise installation time".

"This project at Rolls Royce reinforces the range of applications that the Gripple Hangers can be used for on an electrical project from the suspension of lighting to hanging trunking and cable trays." The East Midlands' redevelopment project forms part of a GBP 100m investment plan to upgrade four of Rolls Royce's aircraft engine factories in the UK.

The world famous Gripple Hangers have been used to suspend static loads such as mechanical, electrical and HVAC services across the globe including major projects in industrial buildings, distribution centres, warehouses, offices, schools and hospitals.
