"GKS Korea increases our worldwide reverse engineering and CAD modeling capabilities while also giving us entry into the Korean marketplace." GKS Inspection Services' Korea team of 15 highly skilled engineers based in Seoul provides reverse engineering, inspection, and prototyping services.
With their 3D laser scanning expertise, the engineers create surface models from the 3D scan data (or "point clouds"), in a process known as reverse engineering.
GKS Korea also uses inspection software to create a colour error deviation map that clearly delineates variations between the as-built part and the design intent.

Laser scanning systems project laser light onto surfaces while cameras continuously triangulate the changing distance and profile of the laser as it sweeps along, enabling the object to be accurately replicated.
Laser scanners can quickly measure large parts while generating far greater numbers of data points than touch probes without the need for templates or fixtures.
Laser scanning replicates the complete geometry of a complex part to a high level of accuracy, often to within 1 thousandth of an inch.
Many companies would like to take advantage of the improved accuracy and speed provided by laser scanning but need to scan only a relatively small number of parts.
Such companies have difficulty justifying the cost of acquiring a laser scanner and training operators in its use.
GKS Inspection Services, headquartered in Detroit with offices in Minneapolis, India, and now Korea, offers outsourced laser scanning services on a project basis.
A company simply sends a part to GKS and they create a very accurate CAD model or inspection report in a short period of time at a reasonable cost.
Alternately, GKS can dispatch trained metrologists to the customer's site using portable measuring devices.
GKS Inspection Services has been a leading provider of dimensional measurement and 3D laser scanning services for 25 years.
The company's Plymouth, MI lab (in the Detroit area) is accredited by the A2LA for Mechanical Testing and Calibration.
The Michigan lab features numerous CMMs, vision systems, laser scanners, surface analysers, and other inspection equipment.
GKS also has branch offices in Minneapolis, India and Korea.
The company's expert metrologists and engineers are experienced in automotive and many other manufacturing industries.
