The Laser Design scanners feature Surveyor Scan Control software and automated scanning.
Once scan data is collected, GKS Netherlands uses inspection software to create a colour error deviation map that clearly delineates any variations between the as-built part and the design intent.
Alternatively, the company uses CAD software to create surface models from the point cloud data.

Laser scanning systems project laser light onto surfaces while cameras continuously triangulate the changing distance and profile of the laser as it sweeps along, enabling the object to be accurately replicated.
Laser scanners are able to quickly measure large parts while generating far greater numbers of data points than touch probes without the need for templates or fixtures.
Laser scanning can replicate the complete geometry of a complex part to a high level of accuracy, often to within 0.001in (0.03mm).
Many companies are interested in taking advantage of the improved accuracy and speed provided by laser scanning but need to scan only a relatively small number of parts.
Such companies have difficulty justifying the cost of acquiring a laser scanner and training operators in its use.
