Global provider of dimensional measurement, 3D laser scanning and terrestrial scanning services has recently opened a laser scanning and inspection service bureau in the Netherlands.

GKS Inspection Services, a global provider of dimensional measurement, 3D laser scanning and terrestrial scanning services since 1981, has recently opened a laser scanning and inspection service bureau in the Netherlands Named GKS Inspection Services Netherlands, it has a team of over 30 experienced engineers based in Ede providing reverse engineering and inspection services

The Ede location in the centre of the Netherlands allows the engineers to provide superior customer service to all parts of the country.

In addition, GKS Netherlands is positioned to serve customers all through the European Union.

"GKS Netherlands is an important part of GKS' strategy of becoming the global leader in the 3D laser scanning services industry," said Armando Alonso, vice president.

"GKS Netherlands enhances the competitiveness of our reverse engineering and inspection services while also giving us entry into the European manufacturing industry".

* GKS Inspection Services Netherlands equipment - GKS Netherlands' dedicated laser scanning support engineers are experts with years of experience in the field.

As part of their 3D laser scanning expertise, the company's engineers are highly skilled in modeling for inspection and reverse engineering.

GKS Netherlands has a wide array of equipment including a Laser Design CS-Series scanner, a Laser Design Faro Arm scanner, and a Mitutoyo CMM.

The Laser Design scanners feature Surveyor Scan Control software and automated scanning.

Once scan data is collected, GKS Netherlands uses inspection software to create a colour error deviation map that clearly delineates any variations between the as-built part and the design intent.

Alternatively, the company uses CAD software to create surface models from the point cloud data.

GKS Netherlands focuses on the key market areas of design, industrial design, molding, automotive, medical, plastics, plastic injection molding, precision sheet metal, mint, and cultural heritage projects.

Laser scanning systems project laser light onto surfaces while cameras continuously triangulate the changing distance and profile of the laser as it sweeps along, enabling the object to be accurately replicated.

Laser scanners are able to quickly measure large parts while generating far greater numbers of data points than touch probes without the need for templates or fixtures.

Laser scanning can replicate the complete geometry of a complex part to a high level of accuracy, often to within 0.001in (0.03mm).

Many companies are interested in taking advantage of the improved accuracy and speed provided by laser scanning but need to scan only a relatively small number of parts.

Such companies have difficulty justifying the cost of acquiring a laser scanner and training operators in its use.

GKS Inspection Services, a division of Laser Design, USA, offers outsourced laser scanning services on a project basis.

By simply sending a part to GKS, the company will create a very accurate CAD model or inspection report in a short period of time at a reasonable cost.

Alternately, GKS can dispatch trained metrologists to the customer site using portable measuring devices.

* About GKS - GKS Inspection Services has been a leading provider of dimensional measurement, 3D laser scanning and terrestrial scanning services for 25 years.

The company's Plymouth, Michigan, laboratory (Detroit metro area) is accredited by the A2LA for Mechanical Testing and Calibration.

The Michigan lab features numerous CMMs, vision systems, 3D laser scanners, surface analyzers and other inspection equipment.

GKS also has offices in Minneapolis and Seattle and international locations in India, Korea, China, Taiwan and Europe.

The company's expert metrologists and engineers are experienced in automotive and many other manufacturing industries.
