A bespoke development and manufacturing business will provide scientific and industrial products and include standards testing, manufacture, commissioning, support and service.

Grant Instruments, a worldwide supplier of scientific, life sciences and data acquisition products, has launched a bespoke development and manufacturing business to provide scientific and industrial products that meet customers' application-specific requirements Grant Technologies will focus on markets which leverage Grant's 50-year heritage and expertise in thermodynamics, data acquisition, analysis and communications, based upon a proven track record of well-engineered, high quality and reliable own-brand products

Paul Pergande, head of Grant Technologies, said: "We have established this business in response to the increasing demand from companies for fast-turnaround custom-built solutions.

In today's markets companies want an outsourcing partner who offers more than a typical consultancy service.

They want an experienced partner who can take a product from the concept design stage right through to manufacture with full pre and post sales support." He continued: "Many clients overlook the need for experience in areas such as procurement and industry proven product development and manufacturing.

However, when Grant says, designed for manufacture, we mean just that." Grant Technologies specialises in the design and manufacture of equipment for accurately controlling temperature in industrial processes (-100 deg C to +450 deg C), sample handling and preparation, material testing and quality control in the production environment, medical analysis and diagnostic processes, chemical and pharmaceutical evaluation.

Target markets include, among others, life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, automotive, industrial, oil and petrochemicals, scientific, military and environmental testing.

"We come to market with an excellent track record having already successfully developed hundreds of 'specials' for customers over recent years," added Pergande.

"Our clients are from a diverse range of industry sectors and include companies such as Leica, Thales, Kew Gardens, Xennia, ALcontrol Laboratories, Whatman Biometra, Stanhope Seta, Schleicher and Schuell and many others." Grant has invested over GBP 1 million in new processes over recent years at its 30,000ft2 production facility at Shepreth on the outskirts of Cambridge, England.

All core services are available under one roof - product design and development, performance and standards testing, production engineering, procurement, manufacture, commissioning and after-sales support.
