Swinglink bucket elevator improves nut processing
Swinglink bucket elevator system has improved production efficiency leading importer and producer of pistachios, cashews and other luxury nuts.
The proven technology developed by Gough is designed to provide gentle and efficient handling, reduce maintenance downtime and eliminate product spillage.
Primetime Petfoods, who make a range of dry foods for cats dogs and other animals, have recently expanded production capacity at their Driffield factory and specified the Gough bucket elevators because of their ability to maintain product integrity and also because they require minimal maintenance.
"We installed three 18in Swinglink Elevators in our number 2 production line during our plant expansion in 2002 and are now in the process of installing 2 further new Swinglink Elevators in the packaging line", said Primetime Technical Director Tom Bell.
The new elevators will be lifting 6tons product per hour in the first, 18in bucket system, with around 12tons per hour throughput in the larger 36in bucket elevator system.
Easy maintenance and cleaning were areas that Tom Bell saw as important to their decision to select Gough equipment.
"When we need to clean the buckets they can be easily removed, which makes the maintenance quick and straightforward", he explained.
Gough also worked closely with Primetime to modified their standard bucket design to handle product temperature in excess of 700degC.
The modified buckets prevent any distortion to their shape cause by the higher working temperature.
The Gough Swinglink system features a continuous moving buckets and a special chain drive unique to Gough Engineering, which ensures that buckets remain level throughout the circuit and dispense product gently and completely reducing damage and degradation of friable products.
Benefits are zero waste and with no cross contamination because no material is left in the buckets to affect other products.
