Traceability Is all about improving the bottom line and The Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education (GIFHE) recognised this need and last year set up The National Traceability Centre

Traceability means more than meeting quality and safety legislation.

For forward thinking businesses it is all about improving the bottom line and The Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education (GIFHE) recognised this need and last year set up The National Traceability Centre.

This modern training environment, part of the Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) infrastructure, was established to show the practical demonstration of the latest traceability systems and designed to support a variety of business needs across a range of industry sectors including Ports and Logistics, Food Manufacturing, Automotive, Cold Chain Supply and Retail.

Having proven success in the international market, such as Pakistan where the first phase of a United Nation's Traceability project has been successfully completed, GIFHE is now sending a team of experts along to exhibit and deliver a workshop at the Global RFID ROI 4th Annual Summit at ExCel in London on the 30th and 31st January.

By attending the World's foremost gathering of RFID Practitioners, the Institute team is taking the opportunity to promote not only its international expertise but also highlight its Traceability Centre's RFID facilities on this national platform.

Neilsen Busk, Traceability Systems Manager at the Institute will be delivering a workshop entitled 'Traceability - A Low Cost High Power Solution' which will address the issues surrounding the implementation and operation of low cost traceability systems.

This workshop will give delegates an insight into using traceability as a powerful, low cost solution; expanding the system simply without expensive reconfiguration of the software; meeting current legislation including recent bio-terrorism regulations; and incorporation of a quality management system.

Speaking about the fantastic opportunities that are available through the National Traceability Centre, Neilsen says, "RFID is a fast growing application within industry, and the Grimsby Institute has extensive and proven experience in traceability, in many projects for both national and international clients and is now incorporating RFID as the major component." Going on to highlight one of the key benefits that the Centre offers, he explains that, "The development of the National Traceability Centre will allow companies to research, test and evaluate differing systems in order to identify the suitability prior to major capital expenditure." Participation at national exhibitions such as this one not only helps raise the profile of the Traceability Centre on a national basis but also enables cross sector networking to take place.

Neilsen concludes by saying that, "The Institute is looking forward to developing new educational and business partnerships for the research, test and evaluation of RFID and Traceability systems and their applications across a broad range of industries.".
