Test data management tool for developers

A Grid-Tools Limited product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Nov 8, 2006

Datamaker provides significant time savings and cost savings for large organisations and enterprises where test data generation must be performed.

Grid-Tools Limited, a leading vendor of test data management and information lifecycle management software announces the implementation of its Datamaker product by a major government user.

Datamaker is to be adopted as the standard test data management tool for developers following a successful test using 500 concurrent users.

The Datamaker product provides significant time and cost savings for large organisations and enterprises where test data generation must be performed, and where sensitive personal data is involved.

The Datamaker product from Grid-Tools allows developers and testers to generate test data, save test data within a central repository and retrieve test data from a central repository.

"The tests showed significant system performance improvements for up to 500 users," explains Nick Jones, Sales Director at Grid-Tools.

"Good quality test data is often the key to the success of new and existing applications".

Being able to create test data quickly for a range of test cases can save organisations time and money.

Nick continues, "GT Datamaker is an easy to use tool that lets organisations edit and copy data between schemas as well as build related sets of table data which can then be published to development and test databases".

Testing is often performed on copies of production data or poorly anonymised copies of live data.

The strength of Datamaker is that is builds a picture of how data is related and then models existing data or builds new sets of test data.

"When the data is published organisations can substitute defined standard variables such as financial year, payment type, location code, and so on, such that the test sets will match current testing requirements," explains Jones.
