Automotive suppliers can ship more easily

A GSM Printer and Label Systems product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jul 31, 2001

GSM Printer and Label Systems' ODETTE software provides suppliers to the automotive industry with an easy way to set up a database of parts.

GSM Printer and Label Systems, has launched a new version of its ODETTE software.

ODETTE is the organisation under which trading partners across Europe have developed standard working practices in logistics, material flow and financial transactions.

The software programme developed by GSM Printer and Label Systems provides suppliers to the automotive industry with an easy way to set up a database of parts.

The information can be transferred directly to their printers where ODETTE transport labels are printed.

The software automatically calculates weights from the stored information and the correct shipping details.

The new version of the ODETTE software includes an electronic data interchange (EDI) interface with the ability to take electronic instructions from an automotive manufacturer and sort the information that is needed to print the ODETTE transport label automatically.

This means the information doesn't need to be retyped so the process is faster and keying errors are reduced.

Other improvements to the software include an extended range of label sizes as required for ODETTE shipping labels, including A5, A6 and the new A5/2 size, plus functions tailored to the conditions imposed by individual automotive manufacturers.

Operator Pat Woodroffe at Nissin UK said: "We wouldn't be without our ODETTE label printing system now.

The time savings make the system invaluable." GSM Printer and Label System general manager Norman Sutcliffe said: "The Odette Master software helps manufacturers meet labelling regulations imposed by the automotive industry effectively.

Our close relationships with clients mean we have seen our product at work in a variety of applications and on a daily basis.

We have been able to identify areas for improvement and provide a more efficient programme.".
