Improved cutting materials for machining

A Diamond Innovations product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Oct 24, 2003

GE Superabrasives has anniunced the latest development in a long string of continuously improved super hard cutting materials for machining applications in ferrous and non ferrous materials

GE Superabrasives continues to set the pace in high performance PCBN and PCD cutting blanks.

BZN 9100 Compacts, BZN HTM 2100 and Compax 1800 are the latest development in a long string of continuously improved super hard cutting materials for machining applications in ferrous and non ferrous materials.

Consistent and repeatable performance, outstanding tool life.

Excellent cutting edge quality and retention allow for new productivity highs in a competitive manufacturing environment.

BZN 9100 contains a high volume percentage of premium Borazon*CBN in a Ti based cermet matrix which combines superior impact resistance with greatly improved chemical stability.

This combination makes BZN 9100 Compacts the preferred choice in a wide range of applications, running from continuous all the way to highly interrupted cuts.

BZN 9100 Compacts are ideally suited for machining of cast iron and powder metal alloys, excellent results are also achieved in machining of tool steels and hard steel milling.

BZN 9100 improved tool life in cast iron cylinder boring by 50% over competitive PCBN products.

The super hard PCBN layer of HTM 2100 consists of extremely tightly controlled Borazon*CBN crystals in a TiN based matrix.

Engineered as a multi-purpose hard turning product, HTM 2100 delivers excellent results in continuous and moderately interrupted cuts.

The combination of high abrasion resistance, good impact strength and chemical stability allows for higher material removal rates, good surface finish and long tool life.

HTM 2100 guarantees consistent tool performance and reliable processability.

HTM 2100 delivers significant performance improvements in continuous and interrupted cuts.

Compax 1800 is a highly abrasive resistant grade of polycrystalline Man Made*diamond in a specially engineered bimodal grain size, integrally bonded to a tungsten carbide substrate.

The extremely dense polycrystalline diamond structure achieves maximum abrasion resistance, outstanding impact strength, very good surface finishes and record tool life for applications in nonferrous and nonmetallic materials.

Compax 1800 with bimodal grain structure shows performance improvements up to 2X over competitive PCD materials.

GE Superabrasives is the inventor and the world's leading supplier of manufactured diamond, cubic boron nitride (CBN), and polycrystalline products used in the metalworking, stone, concrete, petroleum, glass, woodworking, electronics and mining industries.
