GTMA members boost emould@work project
The number of UK partners in the EU funded software R and D emould@work project now numbers six.
The company currently employs 30 people at it 1,600m2 factory, offices and technical centre in Batley, where it creates tooling up to a maximum size of 10 tonnes.
Among the many outstanding projects that Moorlands has been involved with, one of the latest, with IPS for the development of tooling for a wind and solar powered street-lighting system, has been particularly successful.
"We worked really closely with IPS right through the design process," comments Mike Newby, "We were meeting their designers almost every other week in order to keep the project on track.
It all proved worthwhile when we managed to deliver the tooling three weeks ahead of a really tight schedule." Ivan Bignell, MD IPS explains, "The beauty of using a first class toolmaker in the UK is that you can really work as a team.
If there are any issues to be ironed out you can just jump in your car and go and see for yourself.
When meeting deadlines is critical to a project's success, then its "cost" not "price" that counts." Another advantage that Ivan found was the ability to take clients and prospects to see progress on the tooling while work was underway, without the need for flights, hotels and jet-lag.
The GTMA's Julia Moore added her congratulations, "Well done to Moorlands.
This excellent mould-making company has gained a well deserved reputation for solving problems and exceeding customers' expectations.".
