Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jul 16, 2003

Another toolmaker has joined the UK's GTMA - Tonbridge Tools - which specialises in the design and manufacture of precision tooling for the plastics industry.

Yet another toolmaker has joined the GTMA.

Tonbridge Tools is a company with great technical expertise which specialises in the design and manufacture of precision tooling for the plastics industry, in particular for PVC mouldings, of which the company has over 30 years experience.

Tonbridge has just delivered its first two-impression, hot runner PVC tool to a construction industry customer for a large and aesthetically sensitive item.

Tonbridge's design team works with major design houses to produce models for the supply of rapid prototype tooling and stereolithographic components for a wide range of industry sectors including medical, automotive and construction.

In-house facilities include 3D solid and surface modelling on software linked directly to CNC machine tools.

3D - moldflow analysis is used to compliment the CAD/CAM system, enabling 'right-first-time' tooling and the company is able to offer tooling of up to 2 tonnes in weight.

Stewart Ray, general manager of Tonbridge, explained the firm's reasons for joining the association, "We are very interested in achieving the GTMA World Class Toolmaker accreditation which we are certain will provide us with additional credibility in the industry and we are also keen to participate in the Technology Briefings which the association runs to keep members up to date with the latest technology.".
