The GTMA strengthened its foundry tooling numbers when it recently welcomed specialist company BS Tooling into membership The Newtownabbey-based company, which employs approximately 70 staff, has built an impressive reputation in the field of design and manufacture of foundry tooling for aluminium castings, including gravity and low pressure dies for automotive parts such as cylinder heads and alloy wheels

Already at the forefront of high speed machining and CAM processes, the company is looking to grow its business into new areas including high pressure foundry work, design services and prototype part machining, and has already manufactured tooling inserts for the high pressure foundry market.

Dr David Brown, BS Tooling Technical Manager, comments; "Membership of the GTMA offers us real benefits, not only in terms of helping us to raise our profile with potential customers, but also in the opportunity to participate in leading-edge research projects.".
