Expansion planned for PDQ following MBO
A management buyout in GTMA member, PDQ Engineering, will allows it to grow the business while continuing to offer customers the skills and service they have grown to expect.
A management buyout is the latest step in the development of newly-joined GTMA member, PDQ Engineering, which offers customers in a wide range of sectors, from sub-sea to aerospace, first class engineering skills.
Sales Director, John Johnson, explains, "This decision allows us to grow the business while continuing to offer our customers the skills and service they have grown to expect.
The company will, naturally, continue to offer both long-run production facilities and one-off precision machining, as well as developing new service offerings.
In order to do this we have plans to increase the existing workforce, and have already employed one additional staff member, with two more job vacancies yet to be filled, and two full time apprentices now on board." The MBO, which was for an undisclosed sum, was completed as the Tyne and Wear-based company won a new manufacturing contract, worth in the region of GBP500,000 in conjunction with another North-East engineering company.
The order books are said to be stronger than they have been for many years, providing the new venture with an excellent start.
This allows the directors to plan an appropriate level of investment in plant and equipment, which will include adding three automated precision-engineering machines, worth GBP250,000, to their already state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with its existing 26 CNC machines.
The MBO team was led by Paul Jackson, who becomes MD of the new venture, together with Richard Mellet, Commercial Director and John Johnson - formerly Sales Manager.
