High Performance Injection Moulds and Moulding Processes project aims to optimize the positioning of cooling channels to improve thermal management in injection moulds.

High Performance Injection Moulds and Moulding Processes project aims to optimize the positioning of cooling channels to improve thermal management in injection moulds.

The HIPERMOULDING - High Performance Injection Moulds and Moulding Processes - project aims to optimize the positioning of cooling channels to obtain more efficient thermal management in injection moulds.

The project's UK kick-off meeting will be held on 24th February, at Warwick Manufacturing Centre, as part of the GTMA Aerospace Event where Lawrence Jenkins, Supplier Development Operations Director, Rolls Royce Global Purchasing, will be the keynote speaker.

The GTMA is the UK trade association participant for the project, together with UK core SMEs Delcam and Mold Systems in Newton Aycliffe, whose role will be to ensure that the results of the project will be applicable in the industrial environment.

UK research activities for the project will be undertaken by PERA.

Five further European countries are taking part: Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain, making a total of 30 participants in all.

Scope of Project Improvement of the positioning of cooling channels focusing on: mould design, mould making, injection moulding, to provide: * Faster/better mould filling (30% time reduction).

* Faster cooling of melted material for solidification (50% reduction).

* 30% saving in energy consumption.

Together, these improvements will result in an average part-cost reduction of 20% (depending on part geometry) and increased part quality.

If you would like to participate in this EU project and would like to attend the launch on 24th February please contact GTMA.
