Seminar provided guided tour through RR
quality
At a recent GTMA Aerospace Supply Chain seminar, Rolls-Royce presented a guided tour through the workings of SABRe - the face of the RR Quality Management System.
At its recent Aerospace Supply Chain seminar at Warwick Manufacturing Group, GTMA continued to take up the cudgels on behalf of toolmakers Keynote speakers included Lawrence Jenkins, Supplier Development Operations Director, who presented a guided tour through the very impressive workings of SABRe - the outward facing part of the Rolls-Royce Quality Management System, which communicates the company's requirements to its supply chain

SABRe is the formulation of an all-encompassing vision - a vision which comprises a full suite of quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, management and environmental requirements which are harmonised across the entire global supply chain.
Dr Glenn Parry, Senior Research Fellow from the Aerospace team at Warwick Manufacturing Group provided an overview of the future evolution of the aerospace sector, including some thought provoking details about new developments, for example Toyota, which plans to build simple to fly, low-cost planes to replace cars, and Honda, which is thought to be pursuing air taxis at an estimated GBP 1m each - one quarter of the cost of the cheapest jets today.
The event concluded with a presentation on the GTMA Aerospace Network, created to provide procurement assistance to OEM and Tier 1 companies.
GTMA has already initiated meetings with companies and is offering OEMs the opportunity of dealing with a single source of suppliers - the GTMA.
The objective of the GTMA Aerospace Network is to provide tangible business opportunities within the aerospace sector and by so doing to support UK manufacturing suppliers.
