The European Hipermoulding consortium held its second joint meeting and the project is now starting to produce results, particularly in terms of the research being undertaken.

In June the European Hipermoulding consortium held its second joint meeting.

This project, begun in December 2004, is now starting to produce results, particularly in terms of the research being undertaken by the participating Technology Centres.

The meeting was given an update on the current state of research, and presentations were given on Thermal Control, High Performance Injection Moulding, Cycle Time and Cost Analysis.

In the light of these developments, GTMA has arranged a meeting on 20 July at PERA, to which UK moulding SMEs, both those who are already involved and also those who are interested in participating in the Hipermoulding project are invited.

Attendees will be given the opportunity of discussing moulding issues with technical representatives from PERA and information from these discussions will be incorporated into the research project.

GTMA CEO, Julia Moore, comments; "This is a real opportunity for UK moulders and mouldmakers to work together to discuss their most difficult moulding challenges and to ensure that the Hipermoulding research project tackles the issues that really matter.

The Hipermoulding portal www.hipermoulding.com is now fully functional and visitors can learn about the Hipermoulding project in detail, including its objectives and the work areas being studied.

A UK national SME meeting for participating partners who have registered to join the project will take place in December, hosted by GTMA and PERA at the Innovation Park, Leicestershire, UK, where partners will have the opportunity to see and discuss at first hand the work carried out by PERA and our European Research partners TNO Netherlands, CRIF Belgium, CAMT Poland, Centimfe Portugal, ASCAMM Spain who are all part of this 3 year project.

GTMA members on the steering group include Delcam UK and Mold Systems, while SME members include: Amtek Precision Engineers, GB Precision Eng, Thomas Keating, Kumi Solutions, Moorland Toolmakers, Moldtechnik, PP Injection, Sprint Tool and Die, W H Boddingtons and others are still invited to join.
