Roadshow underlines measurement's importance

A GTMA product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Aug 27, 2007

The UK's Gauge and Tool Makers' Association will be holding a 'Make Measurement Matter' metrology roadshow at RAF Cosford near Telford, UK, on November 14.

The 'Make Measurement Matters' format provides a novel opportunity for metrology professionals to discuss their measurement requirements with specialists from 30 of the UK's premier metrology suppliers.

They will be gathered together under one roof and for one day only and visitors can view the latest technical developments in products and applications.

Gauge and Tool Makers' Association (GTMA)'s CEO, Julia Moore, said: "Modern manufacturing makes ever-increasing demands on the measurement capabilities of companies at all stages in the supply chain.

From the simplest gauges to the most complex electronic devices - measurement really does matter".

She said: "This year's venue naturally reminds us of the vital role that measurement plays in manufacturing for the aerospace sector - which is why metrology is so strongly featured in the GTMA's 'Executive Briefing for the Aerospace industry'".

Moore continued: "However, metrology is equally critical throughout the high-tech manufacturing arena, and, as many companies already appreciate, many of the problems experienced in manufacturing prove to be issues relating to measurement.

The breadth of experience and range of products demonstrated at the roadshow will provide the solutions to many of these issues faced by manufacturing today." The event has been designed to provide both exhibitors and visitors with extensive opportunities to network with others in the industry, while also keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field.

In addition to the exhibition there will also be a free seminar programme, yet to be finalised, including a presentation by Jane Beaumont, director of Accreditation, UKAS, responsible for the operation and development of assessment and accreditation services.

Concorde simulator - Visitors will also have the opportunity of experiencing a Concorde simulator ride.
