Solid carbide milling cutters range extended
Extended range of solid carbide thread milling cutters includes new types, additional thread lengths and thread types as well as a compass for tool selection.
At EMO 2005 in Hannover, Guhring also introduced a completely revised and extended solid carbide thread milling cutter programme.
* Two new types: TM SP and DTMC SP - with immediate effect, Guhring's thread milling cutter programme also includes solid carbide thread milling cutters type TM SP as well as solid carbide drill/thread milling cutter type DTMC SP.
Type TM SP without countersinking step, with spiral flute and internal coolant delivery is a standard type for the milling of one thread size.
Type DTMC SP is a two-fluted drill/thread milling cutter with 45 deg countersinking step and spiral flute, available with or without internal coolant delivery.
It is suitable for core drilling, countersinking and thread milling of one thread size with one single tool.
Furthermore, there is continued availablity of the well known solid carbide multi-range thread milling cutters type TMU SP with spiral flute and intenal coolant delivery for the multi-range application in the production of different thread sizes of the same pitch with one tool and type TMC SP thread milling cutters with 45 deg countersinking step, spiral flute and internal coolant delivery for countersinking as well as the thread milling of one thread size.
* Extended thread lengths and thread types - for all solid carbide thread milling cutter types in the standard range, Guhring has increased the range of maximum producable thread length from 2 x D to 2.5 x D.
In addition, solid carbide thread milling cutters of all types are now available from Guhring as a standard item for NPT and NPTF threads.
Furthermore, type TMU SP tools have been included in the standard range for metric threads with 3mm and 3.5mm pitch.
All solid carbide thread milling cutters in the standard range are available with bright surface finish or with application orientated hard material coatings TiCN or TiAlN respectively, they possess a plain straight shank form HA to DIN 6535.
Alternative Guhring hard material coatings as well as shanks to DIN 6535 form HB (with Weldon shank) or form HE (whistle notch) are available on request.
In addition to the four standard types, Guhring can supply solid carbide thread milling cutters type TM SP and TMC SP for thread length 3 x D as well as solid carbide drill/thread milling cutters type DTMC SP, three-fluted and with or without internal coolant delivery for the thread lengths 1.5 x D, 2 x D, 2.5 x D und 3 x D.
* Compass for selecting the correct tool - as well as completely revising and extending the solid carbide thread milling cutter programme, Guhring has developed a compass that simplifies the correct tool selection.
It provides a quick and simple way of selecting the optimal solid carbide thread milling cutter via the material to be machined and the required thread type.
* Economical advantages - the main advantage of thread milling is the possibility of producing threads of varying diameters (or tolerances) with the same pitch as well as right- or left-handed threads.
As thread milling produces only short chips, chip evacuation does not cause any problems.
Thread milling cutters also offer advantages with large threads and in materials with high-tensile strength and hardness.
Thanks to the possibility to choose cutting speeds and feed rates independently of each other, the chip formation and the load on the tool can be influenced considerably.
