The universal feature of the various Multiblast RSB systems installed, is an automated blast cycle generally controlled by a PLC that can provide flexible process control of all the machine variables and a single work spindle on which components are placed, usually in a specially designed fixture either by hand or robot.
The blast finishing takes place inside the blast chamber, which is often rubber lined for protection against the aggressive media used.
The component frequently sits on a rotating central spindle (though it can be static if that suits the component) and the blast gun arrangement manoeuvres itself vertically and sometimes horizontally and laterally controlled by the PLC, around the component to reproduce the precise coverage required.
Multiple guns of either the Guyson 400 or 900 variety are specified to suit the finish profile required and it is not uncommon to have four or more guns, individually or in pairs dedicated to particular tasks, such as two vertically traversing and one each static above and below.
Media selection- the exact blast media specified dictates the surface finish and this is only found with extensive free trials in the Guyson demonstration and test facility, which is furnished with a wide variety of Guyson blast machines and over 60 grades of media, ranging from plastic, steel grits, glass balls, walnut shells and aluminium oxide to sample from.
Once the media has been selected the media break down rate is taken into close consideration when drawing up the specification for the media reclamation and dust collector that is a vital part of the blast system.
The reclamation is generally achieved with a cyclone separator that creates a vortex that carries the heavier re-usable particles to the outside of the rotating air stream and then down into the hopper or if used, vibratory sieve for further quality separation.
The air stream, which flows into an inner tube, entraps the remaining dust, debris and undersize media and the dust-laden air is sent to the dust collector.
Dust collection - the dust collector is matched to the operational capacity anticipated and has to take account of the volume of air pumped into the system, chamber dimensions, workflow, media type and break down etc.
A typical dust collector specified with the Multiblast RSB system is the Guyson C800, equipped with twin pleated micronic paper filter cartridges.
A fan draws the dust-laden air from the cyclone, the airflow being controlled by a butterfly valve, initial pre-separation of the heavier particles takes place as the inlet air stream is deflected downwards towards the collection bin, the lighter particles being retained on the surface of filter cartridges; which are cleaned by an auto-pulse air cleaning system.
The waste media is collected in a floor level collection bin fitted with a polythene bag liner that when full, is then sealed and disposed of responsibly.
Cost effective finishing results - the versatility of the Guyson Multiblast RSB system is in that it is basically a standard machine that has numerous set permutations that are easily specified depending on known factors.
