Ultrasonic system removes polishing compounds
Ultrasonic cleaning system removes polishing compounds from precision brass clock components, taking only minutes compared with an hour for manual cleaning.
Recently supplied by leading finishing equipment manufacturer Guyson International was a Kerry Ultrasonics UCR Mk2 (Ultrasonic Clean and Rinse) system for removing polishing compounds from precision brass clock components.
Sinclair Harding - makers of fine clocks - since 1967, manufacture a range of beautiful hand crafted clocks and strive hard to preserve many original production techniques.
But one of those, the removal of polishing compounds by hand cleaning prior to assembly was taking up to an hour per item.
This is now achieved to the same exacting standards within minutes and on several items at a time with the latest version of the Kerry Ultrasonic UCR 525.
All UCR Mk2 wash and rinse systems feature the company's powerful Pulsatron M300 ultrasonic generator, along with digital controls for precise process management.
The cleaning system is very easy to operate, reverting automatically to last-used settings at switch on.
An LCD display shows set and run times, in 6s increments to a maximum of 99.9 min, and temperatures in one degree increments up to 80 deg C, while a four-keypad control panel allows the setting of ultrasonics, time and solution temperature.
Kerry UCR Mk2 aqueous ultrasonic clean and rinse systems provide a heated ultrasonic cleaning tank, an immersion rinse tank weiring to drain, and a hand held spray for final rinse.
The standard UCR Mk2 system is available with a maximum tank capacity of 117 litres, all constructed of 316L polished stainless steel for durability; larger versions can be built to order.
Kerry UCR Mk2 systems have been designed to achieve optimum cleaning results.
Ultrasonic transducers bonded to the tank base provide high performance and reliability together with uniform distribution of the ultrasonic energy.
The frequency is tuned to the individual tank/transducer combination and then optimised under normal usage conditions with frequency sweep and fully automatic tuning.
Standard UCR systems operate at 38kHz (+/-10%).
As stated, regular versions of the UCR Mk2 operate at 38kHz, but an optional Primewave dual-frequency generator control is available for all sizes.
This device enables sensitive or intricately shaped parts to be effectively cleaned at higher frequencies of 70, 128 and 194kHz.
The system can also be supplied with KPF60 pumped filtration units to maintain the purity of cleaning solutions.
