Machine tool open house attracts GBP 2m
in orders
Hardinge-Bridgeport sold a total of 37 machines with an order value of GBP 2 million during its May, 2005, Open House attended by 300 visitors and more orders are expected.
A total of 37 machines with an order value of GBP 2 million were sold by Hardinge-Bridgeport during its May Open House at the Global Headquarters for Milling in Leicester, demonstrating the potency of having a wide breadth of milling, turning and grinding technologies available from a single UK operation The Open House, secured 10 orders from the 300 visitors representing 81 UK companies attending the three-day event

In addition, a further four orders from visitors were confirmed within a week, and together these represented business valued at over 1 million pounds.
A further 1 million pounds in order value was committed by 19 visiting overseas companies and a distributor meeting held at the new 40,000ft2 facility where they were able to see 14 machines under power.
And, further orders are in the pipeline.
Says David Andrew, sales director: "We were delighted with the level of genuine end user interest in what is supposed to be a suppressed market in machine tool sales.
It definitely demonstrates a high level of confidence in what Hardinge-Bridgeport is doing and the cost-effectiveness of our machines.
Couple this with our worldwide distributors, who placed immediate orders for 14 machines, our May sales tally rose to 37 machines." With just six months since the acquisition of the Bridgeport intellectual property rights by Hardinge, and its sales and support service division by Hardinge Machine Tools of Exeter, John McTernan, director Bridgeport Brand, comments: "The whole business is off to a flying start, and we are reaping the benefits of offering turning and grinding solutions in addition to our milling expertise.
As a result, the 37 machine orders were taken across the range of equipment we now represent.".
