Universal cylindrical grinder ups
accuracy
Universal cylindrical grinding machine is able to add new levels of precision and repeatability thanks to strict separation of the machine base from any source of vibration.
With the addition of Heidenhain's new generation Pentium III based GRIND plus IT CNC control system, hydrostatic guideways for the X and Z-axis and strict separation of the machine base from any source of vibration, heat generating or thermal influencing elements, the Kellenberger Kel-Varia universal cylindrical grinding machine is able to add new levels of precision and repeatability to its existing high levels of versatility and flexibility Indeed, it is the modularity of the Kel-Varia, with the availability of some 28 different wheelheads including, diagonal, universal and tandem types with application-orientated swivel devices such as a high resolution, absolute measurement B-axis with the option to extend the technology to a second B-2 axis, an automatic indexing axis with incremental proximity coded scaling for X and Z-axes and high resolution C-axis, that enables the full capability of the Heidenhain control to be exploited

Added performance and capability at no extra cost on all of the Hardinge produced VMC II range, which have been enhanced with new spindle drives and motors and still start at GBP32,000.
Hardinge speeds up pick-up spindle VTL working
The revolutionary Hardinge / EMAG joint venture produced VL machines provide a guaranteed load / unload time of 4 - 6 seconds - chip to chip - which is critical for cycles of 30 sec and less.
For example, in addition to external and internal grinding, the new machine is able to perform multiple operations including opposed faces, bores, tapers, polygons and tapered non-rounds as well as threads, all in a single highly productive cycle.
In addition, the machine can be specified with enhanced operating features such as Kel-Touch for gap control with the ability to include up to three sensors and Kel-Balance able to provide semi-automatic balancing of up to two wheelheads on one spindle.
Kel-Assist software is available for profile dressing and contour grinding, extendable to thread dressing and Kel-Poly3 software is able to provide programming cycles for out-of-round components.
By separating any thermal influencing and vibration indexing sources from the highly stable machine base and incorporating the hydrostatic guideways for the X-axis wheelslide infeed and Z-axis longitudinal table movement, highly productive grinding and final precise control over 'creep' speed enables highly precise and consistent grinding cycles to be performed.
These cycles can be reproduced to within a resolution of 0.1 micron in X and Z and within 0.001 deg on the CNC controlled B-axis.
The maximum travel of the cross slide in the X-axis is 320mm and according to bed length, the 600 variant of Kel-Varia has 750mm of travel, the 1000 has 1150mm and the 1500, 1650mm of travel.
