It's confirmation that for manufacturers involved in motor sport - Hardinge technology is the preferred choice." As well as showcasing its latest ranges of advanced milling and turning machines - all under power and being demonstrated machining complex motor sport parts and components - the Hardinge Stand, on the first day of the Show, was also the venue for the unveiling of the Hardinge Motorsport Radical SR8 factory racing car and the Hardinge Motorsport Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR Superbike.
Continued Andrew: "There were lots of machines that caught the eye on our Stand - and not all of them were machine tools." In addition to a 5-AX (5-axis machining centre) equipped with 32m/min rapid feeds, a 32 tool position (face and taper) ATC and a 30kW 15,000 rev/min (direct-drive) spindle - Hardinge also exhibited a Quest Gang Tool lathe featuring interchangeable tool top plates, a 3.7kW 8,000 rev/min spindle, 18/24m/min rapids on X and Z and guaranteed continuous production repeatabilities within 5 micron - as well as a 3-axis milling machine and an Elite 'quick-changeover bar and chucking lathe' with full C-axis sub-spindle capability.
Continued Andrew: "This year we are sponsoring both a Radical SR8 (2.6 litre V8 engine) racing car in the 'Dunlop Radical Enduro Championship' and a Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR Superbike which will be competing in the 2007 British Superbike (BSB) Championships.
We decided to launch the racing car and the bike at Autosport - and, this was made even more spectacular, because Radical Sportscars also used our car - on our Stand - to launch the SR8 Championship itself." Certainly the joint action between Hardinge and Radical brought in the crowds to the Hardinge Stand - as well as a posse of photographers and a TV crew (Motors TV) too - and for those that missed the exhibition there's coverage of Hardinge, Hardinge's Stand and the Radical SR8 racing car on Motors TV (Channel 413).
The advanced planning and attention detail resulted in Hardinge having a very busy Stand and lots of customer orders and enquiries - all topped off by winning the Autosport award for the 'best stand' in the Show's Manufacturing Technology Area.
