Stepdrills avoid tool changing and save
time
In trailer manufacture, a number of different holes have to be drilled for securing attachments. Much time has been saved in using special stepdrills and so avoiding tool changing.
Graham Edwards Trailers is one of the UK's leading manufacturers of quality livestock trailers and trailer chassis for horse boxes etc Based in Full Sutton near Stamford Bridge, North Yorkshire, the manufacture of these popular trailers involves varying degrees of metalforming and fabrication in the production process

Cut holes in thin sheet without fuss
A range of tooling offers speedy, cost-effective, reliable solutions for the enlargement or the neat finishing of holes, especially in thin materials.
Step drill also deburrs hole in many materials
HSS step drills achieve reliable and cost-effective results in a wide range of materials from plastics to stainless steel, and the radius joining each step deburrs the hole.
The non-welded functions of the fabrication process include the bolting on of accessories such as towing gear and wheel jacks, as well as the securing of body panels and flooring.
These production tasks involve the drilling of a number of holes of varying sizes and G and J Hall's versatile step drill Multicut, is the preferred choice for a number of the drilling processes in use.
"Using G and J Hall's Multicut step drills speeds up the fabrication process due to the fact that we do not have to keep changing drill bits for the drilling of different sized holes.
They are tough reliable tools which do the job without the fear of drills breaking in the work piece or injuring staff through jamming and twisting the operators wrist." G and J Hall's Powerbor holecutting system is also used in the fabrication process at Graham Edwards Trailers, producing larger holes in metal tubes used in the manufacturing process.
The Powerbor range of electromagnetic offers a choice of cutting capacities from 12mm to 100mm.
Each machine carries a full 12 months warranty and a full selection of complementary arbors and accessories are also available.
In addition to the 12 month comprehensive standard warranty are dual carrying handles for greater manoeuvrability, improved high density magnet performance, reversible handles for use in restrictive areas, safe and convenient control panels, corrosive resistant tangle free cable and a free protective carrying case and safety strap.
The Powerbor range has a unique portability providing the ideal solution to even the most difficult drilling applications either on-site or in the workshop.
Incorporating a reversible variable speed motor as standard, the machine can be readily used for a wide range of both drilling and tapping applications.
The highest capacity drill, the PB100, is available with a swivel base option allowing the machine to be firmly attached to the workpiece, taking the weight and making it easier to position the cutting tool more accurately.
