Harting Ethernet switch offers high availability
Harting's industrial Ethernet switches range is believed to be the first to offer ring redundancy to achieve high system availability, while simplifying network configuration and ease of operation.
The inclusion of the press-in option is scheduled for the next revision of the AMC.0 specification.
This new connector supports the high data transmission rates and low crosstalk required by the AdvancedMC specification.
The optimised footprint enables easy routing, while the use of 0.55mm plated PCB holes provides robust and reliable press-fit mounting.

Shielded Ethernet module connects eight data lines
A shielded Ethernet module, which connects all eight data lines, fulfils Category 5e requirements and has been added to a family of heavy-duty industrial connectors.
The new press-fit design was optimised to provide significant cost and reliability advantages over other termination technologies.
The press-in process allows for the use of a standard 'flat rock' die, requiring no special tooling.
The connector is also available without pegs for applications in which the AdvancedTCA guiding system is not desired.
The Advanced Mezzanine Card (AdvancedMC) standard developed by the PICMG defines the requirements for a wide range of high-speed mezzanine cards which can be used in AdvancedTCA as well as in MicroTCA systems.
In an AdvancedTCA system, AdvancedMC modules can be hot-swapped in and out of carrier boards, which are plugged into a backplane.
MicroTCA is an industry standard developed by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG).
In a MicroTCA system, AdvancedMC modules are plugged directly into a backplane and not into a carrier board.
As a result, MicroTCA system shelves are smaller and cheaper than AdvancedTCA systems, yet are powerful enough to address the needs of telecom, enterprise and medical applications.
AdvancedMC modules are powered by power-supply units which connect to the backplane through a MicroTCA power connector (press-fit termination), also available from Harting.
Harting MicroTCA connectors offer good routing capabilities with wide routing channels.
The differential pins are well isolated by the distance between signal and ground pins, resulting in low crosstalk and excellent high-speed performance.
PICMG members have elected to use Harting's MicroTCA connector footprint as the new MicroTCA standard connector for press-fit termination technology.
Harting also provides application specific design-in support for connector and system analysis, including test boards and test setups, simulation data and models (S-parameter and SPICE), signal-integrity data (S-parameter, TDR, crosstalk and eye-diagram analysis), customer-specific boards and models, and 3D models (STEP and IGES).
