A Fast Ethernet media converter is designed to ease the migration to optical-fibre communication where electrical Ethernet data transmission reaches the limits of its performance.

The eCon 3011 Fast Ethernet media converter from Harting is designed to ease the migration to optical-fibre communication in industrial applications where electrical Ethernet data transmission reaches the limits of its performance.

It allows users to extend the range and improve EMC immunity.

It also allows users to replace optical fibre with twisted pair or vice versa.

The eCon 3011 performs signal conversion between shielded twisted-pair cable and multimode or single mode fibre-optic cable, and also supports Power over Ethernet (PoE).

It supports Fast Ethernet (100Mbit/s), and offers a number of settings.

In switch mode, it works in store-and-forward switching mode similar to an unmanaged Ethernet switch.

In convertor mode, it runs at 100Mbit/s (full duplex) with minimal latency.

In PoE mode, it allows power to be distributed directly to a node on the network such as a PoE camera.

* About Harting - the Harting Group develops, manufactures and distributes electrical and electronic connectors, network components, pre-assembled system cables, and backplane assemblies.

These produces are capable of withstanding the harshest demands in industrial environments and provide high data rates for electronic applications.

Harting connectors and network components are used in mechanical engineering and plant manufacturing, in automation systems, energy generation and distribution, and in electronic and telecommunication markets.

Industrial connectors are also vital in construction machinery, rail vehicles and shipbuilding.

Harting offers Ethernet network components and cable systems for both indoor and outdoor networking applications involving power and data.
